At MACS, we provide thorough harness inspection and testing services to ensure your fall protection equipment remains safe, compliant and ready for use on site.
Why Harness Inspections Matter
Safety harnesses and lanyards are classified as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and must be inspected regularly in line with current regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
Regular inspections:
- Ensure equipment is safe to use
- Identify wear, damage or deterioration
- Reduce risk of failure at height
- Keep your business compliant during audits
If it’s used to protect someone from a fall, it needs checking properly.
What We Inspect
We carry out detailed visual and tactile inspections on:
- Safety harnesses
- Shock-absorbing lanyards
- Twin lanyards
- Fall arrest blocks
- Karabiners & connectors
- Anchorage devices
Each item is checked for:
- Webbing damage, cuts or fraying
- Stitching integrity
- Heat or chemical damage
- Distortion or corrosion of metal components
- Correct operation of connectors and locking mechanisms
Inspection Intervals
As a general rule:
- Harnesses used regularly should be inspected every 6 months
- Heavy use or harsh environments may require more frequent checks
If you’re unsure, we can advise based on your usage and environment.
Clear Certification & Records
After inspection, you’ll receive:
- Individual inspection records
- Clear pass/fail status
- Identification of any condemned equipment
- Advice on replacement where required
Everything documented — ready for site audits and health & safety checks.
Whether you have 5 harnesses or 150, we can manage your inspection schedule.
